Snooker-loving pupils at Daqing Number Four Middle School were treated to a visit from their idols on Monday.

Martin Gould, Fergal O’Brien, Zhou Yuelong, Jamie Jones, Aditya Mehta, Dominic Dale and Ross Muir all joined a visit to the school to meet children, play trick shots and pass on coaching tips.

It’s the third time players have visited a school in China this season, following similar trips in Shanghai and Haining.

WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson said: “This is the first time we have staged a tournament in Daqing in the north east of China and we have been overwhelmed by the level of support for snooker here. The crowds at the venue have been fantastic and this visit to the Middle School shows us once again how popular our sport is at grassroots level throughout China. Our visit to the school was a very enbjoyable occasion for everyone and our thanks go to the teachers, staff and pupils for their hospitality.

“I would also once again like to thank our players for their support in helping budding young players who might be the stars of tomorrow.”
