The successful staging of last season’s Gdynia Open was recognised at the annual Gdynia Sports Awards last week.

Having previously been honoured as Sport Event of the year in 2012, the latest edition of the event, won by Australia’s Neil Robertson, has also now been celebrated by the City of Gdynia.

At a prestigious awards ceremony attended by 200 guests, including the Mayor of Gdynia and other dignitaries on Monday evening, event manager Agata Czerwińska was presented with an award by Marek Łucyk, director of the Sports Office on behalf of the tournament.

“I’m proud of all of the team and the hard work that they have put in,” said Czerwińska. “Without all of the World Snooker team, volunteers and referees the event would not have been such a success.

“Throughout the rest of the year we are asked by players and fans when they will be going back to Gdynia as they all enjoy being here, which is really nice. It is a pleasure to work there and this recognition from the city shows that the event is continuing to improve every year.

“We are looking forward to welcoming snooker back to Gdynia in February and can promise that it is going to be bigger and better than ever before! Tickets are selling fast and we are hoping that the final will be completely sold out.”

The 2016 Gdynia Open is the final event of the Kreativ Dental Clinic European Tour and runs from 23-28 February 2016 at the Gdynia Sports Arena. You can buy tickets here or by calling +48 22 591 83 83
