The inaugural “HengYu Cup” Jiangsu College Billiards and Snooker Championship was launched last week at the at Nanjing Audit University in China.

Hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Student Sports Association’s College Work Committee and supported by Jiangsu Provincial Sports Federation, the event was opened by several distinguished dignitaries including WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson, Li Haining, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Pei Yu, the vice president of the university, who all delivered speeches for the opening ceremony.

Jason Ferguson said: “Billiards and snooker is a battle of technique, discipline, strategy and mind. It is fantastic to see young people engaging with our sport and events such as this are very important for the future development of our sport.”

The event will see approximately 200 players and coaches from 28 universities in Nanjing participate, including Nanjing University, Nanjing Audit University, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, and Suzhou Industrial Vocational Technical College.

The competition is divided into two groups, undergraduate group and higher vocational college group, with three billiard sports including snooker contested over three days.
