The gold medal match at The World Games 2017 will be contested between Ali Carter and Kyren Wilson, the two top seeds in Wroclaw.

World number 13 Carter needed barely an hour to defeat world under-21 champion Xu Si, breaks of 63, 61, 52 enough to secure victory. The two-time Crucible runner-up has looked in strong form throughout the competition with six breaks over 50, including a tournament high 136 on the opening day.

Standing between Carter and the gold medal will be fellow top 16 player Wilson, who today added the scalp of Iran’s Soheil Vahedi to those of Andres Petrov and former professional Michael Judge with a top break of 91.

There was however some consolation for Vahedi, the reigning IBSF world champion defeating Xu Si 3-2 in the third/fourth place play-off later today to secure the bronze medal. It was Xu who scored the heavier of the two with breaks of 83 and 83, but Soheil won the remaining three frames to claim victory.

The gold medal match between Ali Carter and Kyren Wilson will be played at 10:00am CET on Sunday morning, live stream available here.
