David Causier defeated Peter Gilchrist 864-227 to win the 2026 World Billiards Austrian Open at the National Billiards and Snooker Academy in Vienna.
Victory in Vienna for Causier saw him successfully defend the Austrian Open title, which was last staged in 2024, as he won through a field of 30 cueists from four nations.
The level three ranking event was the first half of a double-header at the National Billiards and Snooker Academy in Vienna with the European Open following on 1-3 June.

Causier made a dominant start in the group phase by comfortably overcoming Wolfgang Pearl, Steven Allen, Martin Schmidt and Mark Hill with top breaks of 754 (unfinished), 674 and 492.
The world number one was made to work hard by compatriot Ryan Mears in the last 16, coming through a 546-333 victor, before stepping up a gear to sweep aside Chris Coumbe (1,171-89) and Darren Clark (1,176-116) – firing in the tournament high break of 850 to reach the title match.
Fellow former world champion Gilchrist was his final opponent but he was unable to deny Causier as the Englishman earned a 864-227 to win the title.
The World Billiards season continues with the European Open at the National Billiards and Snooker Academy in Vienna on 1-3 June 2026.
