David Causier defeated Peter Gilchrist 6-1 at the National Billiards and Snooker Academy in Vienna, Austria to win the 2026 World Billiards European Open title.
Causier completed the double in the Austrian capital by defeating fellow former world champion Gilchrist – just as he had done in the Austrian Open at the same venue during the previous week.

A total of 27 players contested the level five ranking event, which was played under the 100-up format, and Causier advanced from his group with victories over Phil Johnson, former Queensland Open champion Karthik Ramaswamy, Steve Hassack and Aonghus McAnally.
Consecutive whitewash wins against Australia’s Jason Colebrook and compatriot Ryan Mears saw Causier into the semi-finals where he then overcame Rob Hall 5-2.

The title match was a repeat of the recent Austrian Open at the National Billiards and Snooker Academy after Gilchrist had last beaten Martin Goodwill 5-3.
Causier’s dominance continued in the final and he raced to a 6-1 victory to secure yet another World Billiards ranking event title.
The next event on the World Billiards calendar is the Walter Lindrum Australian Open in Melbourne, Australia on 9-12 June.
